Privacy Policy

Haven helps people in the Pittsburgh area find food, assistance programs, and community events. This page says plainly what we collect, why we collect it, and how to have it removed.

What we collect

• Account email. If you sign in (we use email magic links — no passwords), we store your email address and the programs you save, so your saved list is there when you come back.
• Suggestions. If you suggest a resource while signed in, the suggestion is linked to your account so we can review it and follow up if something looks off.
• Feedback. The feedback form stores your message and, only if you choose to give it, your email so we can reply.
• Weekly list signups. If you sign up for the weekly email, we store that email address, when you signed up, and whether you have unsubscribed. We have not sent any email yet. When we do, every message will carry an unsubscribe link that takes effect immediately. You can also ask us to remove you at any time, whether or not we have sent anything yet.

Anonymous browsing

You can browse every program, food location, and event without an account, and we collect no personal data while you do. One exception: opening the food map loads map images from OpenStreetMap, a nonprofit map provider. Your browser requests those images directly from OpenStreetMap, which sees your IP address and the area of the map you’re viewing — the same way any map on any website works. We don’t send OpenStreetMap your name, email, or anything else you’ve told Haven.

Analytics and cookies

We run no analytics — no trackers, no page-view counters, no advertising cookies. Signing in sets the cookies our sign-in system needs to keep you signed in between visits — nothing else, no tracking, no advertising. If that ever changes, we will update this page before it does.

How long we keep it

We keep the information above until you ask us to delete it. Email nick@leanfmtech.com from the address in question and we will delete your account data, feedback, or mailing-list entry — or send you a copy of everything we hold about you. We never sell your personal information, and we don’t share it with anyone else — the one exception is the map-image requests described above, which go to OpenStreetMap only when you open the food map.

Haven and 2-1-1

Haven is an independent guide — we are not part of 2-1-1 or any government agency, and using Haven never affects your benefits. If you would rather talk to a person, you can always dial 2-1-1 for free, confidential help; nothing you tell them comes back to us.
